STRUCTURE OF THE INTERIOR DESIGN INDUSTRY IN MAURITIUS. ETHICAL WORK PRACTICES; EMPLOYER AND EMPLOYEE OBLIGATIONS

Architects, builders, project managers, engineering consultants, shop fitters, cabinet manufacturers, furniture suppliers, and materials suppliers are all common members of an interior design team. They may be necessary to coordinate the alteration of building structures, the purchase of materials and furnishings, and the hiring and supervision of craftspeople needed to complete a project. Strong collaboration from a network of construction industry experts and architects aids the designers in achieving the desired end results while maintaining appropriate work ethics and standards.

The interior designers collaborate with both domestic and international suppliers to deliver a diverse choice of high-quality products.

Roles of employees in an Interior Design Company

  • The Interior Designer determines Space allocation, traffic flow, building services, furniture, fixtures, furnishings, and surface finishes. To arrive at an optimal design, they examine the purpose, efficiency, comfort, safety, and aesthetic of interior spaces. They must be able to interpret blueprints and be familiar with building codes, inspection laws, and universal accessibility standards.
  • Draughtsman (senior) creates precise technical plans or drawings.
  • The Architect is a professional who plans, designs, and supervises the construction of structures.
  • The Project Coordinator is an important component of the project team, and is in charge of completing building development projects of all sizes and complexity. Under the supervision of a Project Manager (PM) and Project Director, the Project Coordinator is in charge of leading, organizing, and controlling project operations.
  • The Administrative Manager is in charge of information management via personnel. This typically entails storing and disseminating information to others within an organization.
  • The Administrative Secretary is responsible for a variety of activities, including conversing with clients, sending them letters, preparing reports, and other administrative duties.
  • The handyman, who contributes significantly to the "manual" component of all tasks. Air conditioning, appliances, carpentry, drywall, electrical, flooring, heating and cooling, kitchen and bath remodeling, painting, plumbing, pressure washing, roofing, and windows and doors are just a few of the services available. They work for the company's maintenance personnel.
